Equipment

  • Large Rimmed Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper:
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife
  • pastry brush
  • Small microwave-safe bowl
  • Mini piping bag or zip-top bag
  • Small mixing bowl and whisk

Ingredients

For the mummy hot dogs:

  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 package of Hillshire Farms Beef Lil Smokies
  • 3 slices sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 24 thin strips
  • 2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Yellow mustard or ketchup, for mummy eyes

For the monster dipping sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the crescent dough, press the seams together, and cut into approximately ¼-inch-wide strips.
  • Pat the sausages dry. Place a thin strip of cheddar against each sausage and wrap with crescent dough strips, overlapping slightly to resemble mummy bandages. Leave a small opening near one end for the eyes.
  • Arrange mummies seam-side down, about 1 inch apart. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the dough is puffed, golden brown, and fully baked.
  • Stir melted butter, garlic powder, Parmesan, and optional parsley together. Lightly brush over the hot mummies, avoiding the face openings. Add two tiny dots of mustard or ketchup for eyes.
  • Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, honey, and smoked paprika until smooth. Serve alongside the warm mini mummy hot dogs.

Notes

My favorite equipment tip: A pizza cutter is a game changer for this recipe! It cuts the crescent dough into neat, even strips without stretching or tearing it, making those adorable mummy bandages so much easier to create.
