Peach Upside Down Cake

Peach upside cake is a beautiful delicious dessert with fresh peaches caramelized with melted butter and brown sugar, topped with a buttery batter and baked to a golden brown perfection.
It is delicious accompanied with a whipped topping or vanilla ice cream.

Equipment

  • 9 inch round cake pan
  • whisk or electric mixer

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 15 oz canned peaches
  • 1 box Betty Crocker Moist Yellow Cake Mix
  • Ingredients called for on the back of the cake mix box usually: 3 eggs, ½ cup oil, 1 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan and sprinkle the brown sugar over the melted butter.
  • Make sure the brown sugar is completely dissolved and you have a smooth consistecy.
  • Pour the mixture into a 9 inch round pan. Arrange peach slices in a circular single layer on top of the brown sugar around the perimeter of the pan. (See picture above)
  • In a large bowl, prepare the cake mix according to the package directions.
  • Gently pour the cake batter over the peaches and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  • Place a serving plate upside down over the pan and flip to release the cake.
  • Slice, serve warm, and accept compliments graciously.

Notes

While fresh peaches are a delicious choice, canned peaches are a perfect alternative. They can be used year-round and are already sliced and ready to go, saving you even more time.
