This Peach Upside Down Cake is a delicious, summer dessert you're entire family will love! Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for the perfect sweet treat.

Why I Used Boxed Cake Mix
- Easy to Use: Box mixes are premeasured and easy to whip up a cake quickly.
- Consistency: They provide consistent results ensuring the cake will rise properly and have a good texture.
- Flavor Variety: Box mixes come in a variety of flavors. You can choose one that compliments the peaches well such as vanilla or yellow cake.
- Customization: You can add your own twist with spices and extracts to enhance the flavor of the cake.
What Kind Of Peaches To Use?
You can use fresh peaches when they are in season; however, you can use canned peaches any time of year. They are easy and convenient. If you choose to use frozen peaches, thaw them first. Drain the excess liquid to prevent the cake from becoming too soggy.

Cake Mix Variations
There are several variations of cake mixes you can try with this recipe! Have fun experimenting with it.
Yellow Cake Mix (original)
Can’t go wrong here. It’s classic, buttery, and just works. If you're not in the mood to experiment, stick with this.
Vanilla Cake Mix
A little sweeter than yellow cake. It gives the whole thing a peaches-and-cream feel. Simple swap, still delish.
Pineapple Cake Mix
This one leans tropical. The pineapple flavor pairs really well with the peaches. Great for summer or if you’re into fruit-on-fruit action.
Almond Cake Mix
Changes the flavor and adds a subtle nuttiness. It’s unexpected but really good if you want something a little more unique.
Spice Cake Mix
This one turns it into a cozy, fall dessert. The cinnamon and cloves play nice with the peaches. Highly recommend with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Coconut Cake Mix
Tropical vibes all around. Light, a little sweet, and tastes amazing with the caramelized peaches. Bonus if you throw some toasted coconut on top.
How To Make Upside-Down Peach Cake
Step 1: Melt the butter over medium heat and stir in the brown sugar until dissolved and combined to a smooth consistency.

Step 2: Pour into a 9-inch round pan and arrange the peaches fairly close together on the edge of the pan. Carefully pour the cake mixture over the peaches. (It's okay if some of the peaches are peeking out.)

Step 3:
How To Turn Out Upside Down Peach Cake
After you remove the cake from the oven, let it cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. This allows the topping to set a bit, making the cake turn out easier.
Place a large plate or serving platter over the top of the cake pan.
Carefully turn the pan over, tapping it gently to help release the cake.

Lift the pan off, and the peaches should be beautifully arranged on top of the cake.

Variations:
- Peach and Blackberry: This gives a nice sweet and tart flavor contrast. The blackberries add a beautiful pop of color and a different texture.
- Peach and Almond: Add almond extract to the batter and sprinkle sliced almonds on top of the peaches for a nutty flavor that complements the fruit.
- Spiced Peach Cake: For a warm and aromatic flavor, add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger to the batter or sprinkle them over the peach slices.
- Peach and Raspberry: Layer raspberries on top of the peaches for a colorful and flavorful combination that adds a bit of tartness.
Becky's Best Cake Tips
- Choose ripe peaches: If using fresh peaches, make sure they are ripe, but firm for the best flavor and texture. Overripe peaches may become mushy during baking.
- Slice evenly: Cut the peaches into even slices so they cook uniformly and are pretty when the cake is made.
- Caramelize the topping: Allow the butter and brown sugar to bubble and caramelize slightly before adding the peaches. This enhances the flavor and creates a beautiful glaze.
- Grease the pan well: Make sure the cake pan is well greased to prevent the cake from sticking and for an easy turnout. You may also line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper to help ensure a nonstick pan.
- Serve warm: Upside-down cakes are best served warm. If possible, serve them fresh from the oven.
- Pair with Ice Cream or Whipped Cream: This cake is even more delicious when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
