Saltine Crackers – The salty crunch that balances the sweetness perfectly

Brown Sugar and Butter – Creates that rich, caramel-like toffee layer

Chocolate Melting Wafers – Milk, semi-sweet, or dark all work beautifully. I like to use Ghiradelli.

Substitutions & Variations:

Sweet-salty boost: Finish with a light sprinkle of flaky sea salt.

Crackers: Swap saltines for matzo crackers or Club crackers for a slightly different texture.

Chocolate: Use milk, semi-sweet, dark, or white chocolate depending on your sweetness preference.

Toppings: Try Valentine M&M’s, crushed freeze-dried strawberries, or festive sprinkles.

Extra flair: Drizzle melted white or pink candy melts over the top before chilling.

Helpful Tips & Tricks:

Line the pan well with foil or parchment so the candy lifts off easily.

Spread chocolate while hot for the smoothest, most even layer.

Add toppings immediately before the chocolate sets.

Chill completely before breaking for clean, crisp pieces.

FAQs:

Why didn’t my toffee set?
Make sure the butter and brown sugar boil for a full 3 minutes—this step is key.

Can I use white chocolate only?
Absolutely! Just keep the oven time the same and decorate quickly before it sets.

Is this kid-friendly?
Very! Kids love helping with sprinkles (and taste testing 😉).
